What's the difference between a vented and an unvented hard hat?
Our Pro Choice Airborne Hard Hat Vented Micro Peak HHV6MP is vented for airflow on standard sites. Our Pro Choice Airborne Linesman Hard Hat Unvented Micro Peak HH6MP drops the vents, which is typical of hats built for trades working near live electrical equipment, since an unvented shell keeps the insulating barrier intact.
If your crew works around high-voltage risk, don't assume vented is the safer default, confirm the voltage/electrical rating with us directly before you order.
What's the difference between a push-lock and a pin-lock harness?
Our Jb’s Push-Lock Safety Hard Hat 10 Pack 8S001 uses a push-lock harness, a ratchet-style dial you turn to tighten or loosen with one hand, quick to adjust on the fly. Our JB’S Hard Hat Pin Lock Harness 8TG57 uses a pin-lock system instead, where the headband is set at a fixed hole position. Push-lock suits a crew swapping hats between different wearers regularly; pin-lock suits a hat assigned to one person who sets it once.
Is a hard hat certified to AS/NZS the same as one certified to EN397?
No, and it's worth checking before you order for an Australian site. Our Jb’s Push-Lock Safety Hard Hat 10 Pack 8S001 is a TYPE 1 helmet certified to AS/NZS 1801:1997, the Australian standard. Our Pro Choice Airborne Linesman Hard Hat Unvented Micro Peak HH6MP is certified to EN397, a European standard. EN397 doesn't automatically satisfy an AS/NZS requirement on an Australian site, so if your site's safety plan specifies AS/NZS compliance, check with your safety officer before substituting an EN397-rated hat.
Do we sell hard hats individually or in bulk, and does it change anything?
Both, depending on the style. Our Jb’s Push-Lock Safety Hard Hat 10 Pack 8S001 comes as a 10-pack and the JB’S Hard Hat Pin Lock Harness 8TG57 ships in cartons of 18, both built for outfitting a whole crew at once. Our Pro Choice Airborne Hard Hat Vented Micro Peak HHV6MP and Dnc Workwear Vented Hard Hat PHHV are sold individually, better suited to topping up a single new hire or replacing a damaged hat without buying a full carton.
What's a “micro peak”, and is it better than a full brim?
Neither is better outright, they solve different problems. The micro peak on our Pro Choice Airborne Hard Hat Vented Micro Peak HHV6MP and Pro Choice Airborne Linesman Hard Hat Unvented Micro Peak HH6MP is shallow enough to keep your upward sightline clear, useful if you're regularly looking up at scaffolding, ceilings, or overhead structures.
A full brim accessory trades that upward visibility for wider sun and rain coverage across the face and neck. If your work is mostly upward-facing, stick with the micro peak; if you're outdoors and exposed most of the day, a full brim is worth the trade-off.
